Give Your Garden A Splash Of Color With Exotic Plants

0

These days, plant hobbyists are becoming partial to growing exotic plants in their respective homes. Their unusual shapes and attractive colors make them perfect additions to verdant lawns. Needless to say, these exotic plants have different growing requirements. With a bit of a research, anyone can pull it off especially if you select ones which are relatively low maintenance. In the following paragraphs, 3 of the most preferred exotic plants will be presented.

Bee Balm Plant

Bee balms are relatively easy to propagate and are easy to maintain making them popular choices among plant hobbyists. As the name suggests, Bee Balm Plant attract bees but they are also known to be visited by butterflies. They also encourage other visitors like birds and therefore having a bed of bee balm can provide a very exciting garden experience. A flowerbed punctuated by tufts of bright red, pink or purple flowers will be excellent accent piece in your garden. They don’t do so well in soil that is high in moisture and are summer bloomers. They thrive with little or moderate human intervention and is a low-watering variant.

Bleeding heart plant

Plant hobbyists grow bleeding heart plants almost solely for the distinct shape of its flowers. A tear shaped protuberance hangs pendulously from the pink or red heart-shaped flower, earning it such name. Rich, well-drained soil is needed to get the best results when growing Bleeding Heart Plant. Bleeding hearts will stay in bloom for several weeks from spring to early summer. Garden hobbyists tend to surround bleeding hearts with other perennial plants that bloom during summer.

Coleus plant

Coleuses are one of the exotic plants that are popular among hobbyists because of their vibrant looking foliage. These plants have leaves that typically have sharp contrast in colors. One variety has green edges but rich purple in the middle. Coleus Plant need frequent watering except during wintertime and is best kept from direct midday sunlight. They can be grown from seeds or cuttings. However, plant hobbyists prefer to cultivate than to propagate coleus as flowering tends to sap the intensity of the color on the leaves.

Landscaping increases the value of your property and makes your home look more interesting and inviting. More importantly, a patch of green punctuated by the bright colors of exotic plants makes for a very good refuge from the concrete jungle of the cities where we live in.
