My wife thought I was crazy when I told her I was going to buy coffee online. “Look!” she said,”I can just pick some up when I’m at the grocery store today. What’s the big deal?”

I told her that there’s nothing wrong with buying coffee online. Now you can get anything on the internet, from aircraft to zebra. OK, maybe not zebras, but I’m sure you get my point.

A local store is simply no match for the variety of coffee beans available on the internet. Coffee from anywhere in the world is available, without leaving your house.

Let’s face it, coffee you can get in your neighborhood supermarket isn’t usually that great. These stores generally carry ordinary coffee, that is inexpensive and will sell fast. Grocery stores operate on a low margin, so they need to sell their products quickly. It’s not really about quality, but more about price.

Coffee beans bought online travel a straighter path from the farm to the consumer’s home. When you buy beans in a grocery store, it usually comes from a regional warehouse, which in turn gets its product from a distributor.

A company that specializes in buying coffee beans and roasting them, will be able to provide a greater variety to choose from. These companies tend to be small and run by people who are skilled and knowledgeable about their craft.

It would be great if you could get awesome coffee at a super price in your neighborhood supermarket. That probably won’t happen because cheap coffee almost always tastes. cheap. Most people end up throwing out the entire bag, ultimately spending more to get a good cup of coffee.

Most people don’t have the time or inclination to go driving around town in search of a good source of gourmet coffee beans. Who can blame them?
