Stress Management Advice For Young Adults

By Article Expert on Nov. 20, 2009.

I am fairly sure that the majority of the readers of this article will agree that the teenage years are far from easy. I would go as far as to say that todays teenagers have never had it so tough. What with the constant peer pressure of their friends to the school examinations plus the stress that their parents put on them; it can be quite tough. So how can we as parents attempt to help our beautiful teenage children cope with all these pressures and stresses?

“I blame the parents” is a statement that is often banded about. At times I agree with the statement as I sometimes can not understand the amount of young teenagers who are still out and about late at night. I would most certainly not allow my kids to be out so late. So how come the parents of these teenagers are happy for them to still be out?

I certainly do not claim to have all of the answers. I am purely a web marketer who spends his day promoting a number of websites with regards to subjects such as cost reduction, DVD authoring and stuttering treaments. I therefore am not some kind of expert when it comes to all aspects of bringing up a teenager. I have a teenage daughter and try my utmost to keep her life during this tricky period as easy as possible.

I try to achieve this by setting certain boundaries. She has to be in by a certain time at night; she needs to ensure that all of her homework is completed before she does venture out; she is asked to keep her room tidy and she is also required to help around the house.

She is richly rewarded if she manages to stick to these rules.

Now I am fully aware about those things called hormones and that at times she will be moody and rebel. I try and keep calm when this happens by taking my lovely dog Cassie for a long walk!

Stress Management Advice

By Article Expert on Nov. 8, 2009.

Up until a few years ago many of my friends and family used to call me “a stress head”. Why you may well be thinking? Well quite simply because I seemingly stressed about anything and everything.

So what was the cause of all of this stress? I suppose if I am truthful the majority of my problems at the time came about due to the fact that I had a stutter. This speech impediment had developed when I was at the age of four. As you may well imagine it is something that destroyed my overall confidence levels. Therapy for stuttering, at the time, was less than impressive which did not exactly help the situation.

My low self-esteem had a bad affect on many areas of my life, not just my speech. I would worry about what other people thought of me, I would stress about my height and my weight. I was so desperate, for whatever reason, for people to like me. I have to say that this now seems so bizarre however at the time I was being plagued by an army of demons that had taken over my brain.

As I entered into my twenties I decided that enough was enough. I could no longer live in this way – there surely had to be more to life than this.

I was soon to realise that I was the only person who was going to sort my life out.

I started to work very hard at learning how to increase self-esteem for example. I watched the way in which great fluent talkers spoke and tried to compare it with the way that I spoke. I hoped this would result in me finding the solution to my stuttering problem.

Progress was far from quick however after around a year of battling against my demons I did manage to overcome the stutter and I did manage to discover ways to stop me stressing – it is all about attitude and the way we approach life – think positive and believe in yourself!

The Linden Method Review

By Article Expert on Oct. 8, 2009.

The Linden Method was created by Charles Linden to cure himself of the severe panic and anxiety that he had suffered since his childhood. In addition to anxiety and panic attacks Charles also suffered from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and agoraphobia. Charles found that all these anxiety disorders were the result of the same cause. He used this knowledge to create the method that was to eliminate his own anxiety and that is now available as The Linden Method.

The Linden Method has been hugely successful with over 100,000 people having used it to become free of anxiety and panic disorders. The success of The Linden Method has led to Charles Linden becoming a well known authority in the field of anxiety disorders. He is a regular contributor to newspapers and magazines and he has also had his own television series called “Stress Less”. In the UK The Times newspaper awarded his “Stress Free in 30 Days” book their “must read” seal of approval.

The Linden Method is the result of Charles Linden’s research that involved many other former anxiety sufferers and what they did to overcome their anxiety disorder. Charles found that many of these people all told similar stories and it was these similarities that led to the creation of The Linden Method.

Charles discovered that all anxiety disorders have one thing in common and that is they are all caused by the amygdala. The amygdala is a small area of the brain that behaves like an on/off switch that turns anxiety on or off. All anxiety disorders are the result of the amygdala getting switched on and getting stuck. The reason why The Linden Method works is because it teaches techniques that result in the amygdala switching itself off. This is the root cause that is behind every single anxiety disorder. So many other anxiety treatments fail all for the same reason that they ignore the root cause that is behind the anxiety. This is the reason for The Linden Methods incredibly high success rate of 96%.

The Linden Method does not require any medication as these only serve to control symptoms and don’t address the root cause of the anxiety. You will be encouraged early on in the program if you are on medication that you don’t need your medicine to get better. Medication suppresses anxious thoughts and emotions but you need to learn to control your anxiety levels for yourself. There can be no permanent cure for anxiety whilst you try to artificially control how you feel with chemicals. As somebody who always seemed to suffer from side effects to drugs and never got any benefit from them I was pleased that this was covered early on.

Although you may find other anxiety therapies helpful, The Linden Method recommends that you don’t continue to use them as they can distract you. You can’t try one therapy one day and then something else the next. You need to stick to something and not get distracted. The Linden Method success speaks for itself and that you should give you the encouragement to stick with it until you get results. If it doesn’t work the first time you try it you need to persevere with it instead of being distracted by some other method. All you will end up doing is relying on other peoples and methods as a crutch when you need to be the one responsible for your own recovery.

The Linden Method can be challenging as it requires you to take complete responsibility for overcoming your anxiety and not rely on anybody else’s comfort and reassurances. Well meaning friends and family can impede your recovery if they try to help make things easier for you. In order to help your partner understand how they can be best support you Charles’s wife Elizabeth has written a chapter on the role that they can best play to help you.

The Linden Method will teach you about diversion which is a technique that you can use to divert your attention away from your anxiety and can prevent a panic attack. Information about Diet and how it affects anxiety is included. By making changes to your diet can reduce your anxiety levels.

The price of The Linden Method is a small price to pay for getting your life back. The manual is over 250 pages and is packed with information. You also get videos and audio recordings that include interviews with Charles, breathing and relaxation techniques and meditations.

My experiences using The Linden Method have been remarkable and I would definitely recommend it to anybody else who is currently experiencing panic or anxiety disorders.
