Impressive Time Saving Apps For Contemporary CPA Practices
With lots of of us fighting to stay apace with the delirious tempo at which the world is transforming it sometimes seems a little unjust that the accountancy occupation is becoming so entirely tied to technology. For those of us who embrace new things, however, there are mind boggling rewards to be earned. {I’d like to introduce you to a number of simple productivity apps that might just help you keep your CPA firm current and still not cost your business a mint.|The good news is that technology can really make your work lots simpler and more productive. Let me tell you about a number of of my personal favorite applications to get you started.}
Launchy
This is the app I couldn’t be in this world without, and I wager you’ll feel the same way after you get it. I still find it hard to believe this tool doesn’t come stock with every computer. With a brief click of alt and space, Launchy pops up, front and center, waiting for your input.
To quickly open a program, just start typing its name and Launchy will complete the search for you by providing suggestions. I would then highlight photoshop, or whatever program I was looking for, and the application will immediately launch. Better yet, Launchy learns your shortcut preferences. I need only type “F” to launch FileZilla. Once you’ve mastered the basics, feel free to play with the add-ons for Launchy such as Weby and Runner to perform advanced features that may increase productivity to allow you ample time to perfect your accountant website. Soon enough you’ll be trying to use “alt + space” on someone else’s computer and cursing them out for not having Launchy installed!
WinSplit Revolution
The best window organization utility going. Quickly organize your workspace in a nice highly visible grid without anything overlapping. WinSplit Revolution is like the windows 7 feature of being able to dock windows left and right, only taken to the extreme. Most of us have too many tasks and therefore, too many windows open at once, on any given work day. Therefore, this tool can always be put to good use. If your screen looks anything like mine, and if you waste a lot of time moving windows around, then you’ll appreciate this app.
UltraMon
This app is great for those of us who use multiple monitors but still need ten more! How often have you become frustrated that your windows taskbar doesn’t span that extra monitor, leaving your primary monitors’ taskbar looking like it’s been squeezed in a vise. This app will expand your taskbar across all of your monitors, while also providing additional tools for use with extra monitors. One of my favorite features (probably bad for productivity, but great for aesthetics) would be the wallpaper options. UltraMon adds amazing control over the desktop background, easily allowing fully spanning images across however many monitors you may have, or even a different image for all of them. It will even allow you to set custom screen savers and even custom icons.
TeamViewer
This one is key for streamlining remote support. As always, we love a free app, but this one has some other small perks. One of them being the lack of an annoying desktop driver. Team Viewer allows you to create a free account to keep track of all your machines. Simply select from Remote control, file transfer or VPN and connect. It’s worth noting that you can also direct a client to their site to download the quick installer and quickly generate an ID and password in order to perform remote support sessions.
Dropbox
Nowadays everyone is or should be using online storage solutions. Dropbox offers great customizability for synchronizing files across multiple machines, as well as folder sharing options. While you may have a great cpa website design that already has a file sharing feature, Dropbox is a very valuable tool for the many firms struggling along without access to this technology. Free accounts supply you with 2GBs of storage space, but you can easily earn up to 8 Gigabytes if you endorse Dropbox to others. When you need more than 8 Gigs, you can purchase additional room for $199.
